Our indoor phoenix oyster grow kits are an easy mushroom to grow at home. Phoenix oyster mushrooms are small to medium in size. The smooth caps are semi-circular or fan-shaped and range in colour from white-beige to pale tan with lilac or gray tones. Also known as the Indian Oyster, Italian Oyster, or the Lung Oyster.
Phoenix oysters have a distinct aroma with seafood undertones and are velvety and tender with a mild, faintly sweet flavour. Phoenix oyster mushrooms are best suited for cooked applications such as frying, sautéing, and boiling. Their flavour is mild and faintly sweet. Suitable to be used as an everyday mushroom being incorporated into soups, stews, salads, pasta, on top of pizza, and casseroles.
Fully cook mushrooms before consuming, do not eat raw.
You can refrigerate kit for up to four – six weeks if not ready to fruit upon receiving or buying more than one to fruit at a later date.

Most oysters prefer hardwood for inoculation of totems or logs. Phoenix oyster mushroom can be used to inoculate conifers along with deciduous trees. They are prolific and hardy, making them a favorite among mushroom-growers.
